Customer Case Study: SupaPowa
Wireless power where you eat, work, socialise and shop.
August 1, 2017
QiConnect is the original wireless charging business in the UK. Through its brand manifestation, SupaPowa®, it is a key enabler of wireless power technology in the UK and the company, following a boost from Oxford Innovation, is going from strength to strength.
Europe is lagging behind in the quest for wireless power technology, even though millions of us would like charging points where we eat, work, socialise and shop, as well as in the home. Peter Turner, founder of SupaPowa and MD of QiConnect, the technology developers behind SupaPowa®, found a gap in the market for wireless charging. With his background working as an automotive and electrical engineer, Peter decided to plug the gap and embark on a new business venture.
SupaPowa set-up business at Portsmouth Technopole, the landmark serviced offices centre run by Oxford Innovation on behalf of the University of Portsmouth, 14 years ago. The company’s products are set to become widely available in the high street, offices and social environment locations.
Being based at Portsmouth Technopole provided exposure to the Oxford Innovation network, which resulted in the wireless technology being rolled out at Oxford Innovation’s new-build innovation centre on the South coast. The technology has positively impacted convenience for all occupiers and visitors at the centre, giving SapaPowa both income, custom and exposure to others.
“Oxford Innovation have supported our technology from an early stage, having rolled out wireless charging facilities across two of their centres whilst introducing us to new customers along the way.”
Pete Turner – CEO, SupaPowa
The SupaPowa® product is customer-centric and innovative, and thereby both showcases what customers can do with technology and also reflects the spirit of innovation which is instilled across all Oxford Innovation’s centres.
