Jon has over 20 years experience within the accounting profession. After starting his career at a firm of Chartered Accountants in 1994 he progressed through the ranks to become Accounts and Audit Senior before deciding to move out of practice and in to commerce in 2003. Once in commerce Jon quickly progressed to the position of Financial Controller for a medium sized consultancy company whilst also qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2007.
Jon then joined Oxford Innovation in May 2008 as Finance Manager with the responsibility of managing the finance team, financial reporting for both clients and the company and the development of the Group’s financial reporting and consolidation. Following a major role in the successful roll out of a new Group wide finance system and a subsequent reorganisation of the Groups finance teams in late 2009 Jon was promoted to the position of Financial Controller for Oxford Innovation. This resulted in additional responsibilities for systems development, cash management including maintaining the relationship with the Groups bankers, forecasting, budgeting, Group reporting, financial modelling and interaction with clients.
During his time at Oxford Innovation Jon has been heavily involved in the mobilisation of all the new centres which has involved liaising with the clients, establishing financial systems and client reporting requirements, banking arrangements and the management of the fit out budget for the centre. Jon has also developed a method of benchmarking costs at different centres regardless of size. This has then been used within a bespoke financial modelling tool which Jon has developed to illustrate the financial performance of a business and/or innovation centre of any size, configuration etc. over a number of years. This tool has been successfully used on numerous consultancy projects and feasibility studies as well as being successfully used in bids. This modelling tool has been developed and refined over a number of years and has been proved at the centres that we now manage.
