Marketing and Business Development Director
Jo joined Oxford Innovation in 2000 as a Centre Manager and her first job was to mobilise and run both Culham Innovation Centre and Crowthorne Enterprise Centre. Having successfully opened those centres Jo wanted another challenge and so took on responsibility for setting up a professional Innovation Centre marketing team. Since then Jo has now become responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of marketing strategies and activities for new and existing centres, as well as leading Innovation Centre business development through her team of Regional Directors throughout the UK. She also leads a small marketing team that supports the centres on a day-to-day basis, and provides business support to companies within our Oxfordshire centres.
Jo is passionate about the role that Innovation Centres can play in developing strong economies and innovation ecosystems and is proud to have been instrumental in developing the Oxford Innovation brand over the past 10 years. She graduated in 1993 from Leicester University with a degree in Economics, Sociology and Computing and also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Economic Development and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.
Her career started with a variety of community-focused roles, such as Community Enterprise Manager for Oxfordshire Co-operative Development Agency and Agency Manager for Reading Community Development Agency, where she had day to day budgetary, strategic and management responsibility for Single Regeneration Budget funded projects, as well as establishing a managed workspace and resource centre for up to 10 social enterprises with a range of business support services.
Jo oversees all business support provision and Innovation Centre service delivery, as well as directing marketing activity, brand development and implementation.
